Rockin' the NW Women's Conference with Christina Katz

Ck_sc_2The Writer Mama, Christina Katz, and I had a great time sharing our co-created creativity gospel at the NW Women's Conference on Friday! What we learned from the folks in the audience who chatted us up afterwards is that our strategies for jump-starting a writing career were inspiring for people of all creative inclinations--from musicians to scrap-bookers. This is the magic that happens when we stand up in front of people and share what we know: the feedback we get helps us better understand what we have to offer, and for whom.

It's not easy for me to speak publicly, which is why I do so at every opportunity. Years ago, when Mari and I did our first poetry reading at Cody's Books in Berkeley, I was so seized with anxiety that I feared I'd stop breathing before I reached the podium. I've done many readings and presentations since then; and it gets easier and easier. Transforming that great wave of fear adrenaline into performance momentum is an ongoing growing edge.

What a difference it makes having a friend to share the stage with!  Thanks, Christina, for getting me high on chai tea latte and chocolate chip cookies, and for making it so much more fun to speak my love of the writing journey with our growing community of creatives.

She makes me sound like a chai-cookie dealer! Really we were just high on our own inspiration. Thank you, my dear Sage, for being your dear you.

I stand corrected! : )

You look great up there, Sage!

Thanks so much, Stephanie!
