If you love poetry, you live in the Portland Metro Area and you don't know Christopher Luna, it's high time that you do! A passionate promoter and supporter of poets and poetry, Christopher is a dedicated father, partner, friend and--you guessed it--poet! I am a long-time admirer of his work and his good works. Following are a range of events that Christopher is either hosting or headlining in the coming days and weeks. I encourage you to find your way to one or more!
Tomorrow: Christopher Luna & Luke Lefler at the Show & Tell Gallery
The Show and Tell Gallery, located at 625 NW Everett Street #231,
presents a night of colorful art and live entertainment on First
Thursday, August 7. Spoken Word, 7 p.m.: Luke Lefler and Christopher Luna.
Luke Lefler is a multi-disciplinary writer and audio producer who rarely performs in person. Most recently he returned after a 15-year absence as a programmer for KBOO-FM with his three-hour neo-romantic radio tragedy The Wreck of The Broken Landscape, which he produced using location recordings and music, and mixed entirely in his home studio.
Kerouac School graduate Christopher Luna's recently released chapbook, Ghost Town, USA includes poetry, reportage, and overheard conversation from his five years in Vancouver, WA. Christopher is a poet, editor, and teacher from Long Island, NY and the host of a successful monthly open mic poetry series at Cover to Cover Books in Vancouver.
Show and Tell creates community in Portland's indie arts community and promotes DIY artists by hosting performance opportunities in public places. You can read more about it at: www.showandtellgallery.org or at www.myspace.com/showandtellgalleryproductions
